Remembering Isaac Bonewits, Founder of ADF
“We members of ADF are filled with great sadness at the news of the death of our founder, Rev. Isaac Bonewits. Our thoughts and our hearts go out to his widow, Phaedra, his son, Arthur, and his entire family at this unhappy time.
ADF shall hold a special service to celebrate his life, followed by a wake of remembrance on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 9pm EDT at the Summerland ADF Festival at Camp Clifton in Yellow Springs, OH. We invite everyone who loved Isaac or who has been touched by his works and writings to remember him at that time by lighting a candle or holding a ritual in his honor.
At Thursday’s Memorial Service we shall welcome Isaac into the ranks of the Ancient Wise, those of our ancestors, the Sacred Dead, who are willing to join with us and grant us the wisdom we need to bring back the old ways.
On our website we also have a special memorial page for Isaac where there is a eulogy by Ian Corrigan and links to a special guestbook page where anyone may leave their condolences. It may be seen at http://www.adf.org/about/leaders/isaac-bonewits/.
May the Gods ease Isaac’s passage into the Otherworlds, and may the Ancestors welcome him with open arms. We also pray that they ease the pain of his family and of those who shall sorely miss him. And we pray that his blessings and wisdom will cross the veils to us here for the benefit of ADF and of us all.”

What is ADF?
The Irish words, pronounced "arn ree-ocht fane", mean "Our Own Druidism", and that's just what ADF is - a completely independent tradition of Neopagan Druidism. Like our sisters and brothers in the other Neopagan movements, we're polytheistic Nature worshipers, attempting to revive the best aspects of the Paleopagan faiths of our ancestors within a modern scientific, artistic, ecological, and wholistic context. Like our predecessors and namesakes the Druids, we're people who believe in excellence - physically, intellectually, artistically, and spiritually.
We're researching and expanding sound modern scholarship about the ancient Celts and other Indo-European peoples, in order to reconstruct what the Old Religions of Europe really were. We're working on the development of genuine artistic skills in composition and presentation. We're designing and performing competent magical and religious ceremonies to change ourselves and the world we live in. We're adapting the polytheologies and customs of both the Indo-European Paleopagans and the Neopagan traditions that have been created over the last fifty years. We're creating a nonsexist, nonracist, organic, and open religion to practice as a way of life and to hand on to our grandchildren. We're integrating ecological awareness, alternative healing arts, and psychic development into our daily activities. Together, we're sparking the next major phase in the evolution of Neopaganism and planting seeds for generations to come.

ADF Blessing Rite in a Woodland Setting
Feather River Protogrove, ADF in the News
In December of 2007 we were mentioned in an article about Paganism in our area. While the author got a number of details about ADF wrong, the article was very nice overall and helped clear some misconceptions about Paganism for the general population. You can find that article here.
Our Priest, Rev. Jessie "Medb" Olson was on our community radio station December 22nd 2009 at 11:30am, talking about the Winter Solstice and what its like to be a Druid. We are working on obtaining a copy of that interview.
