Fun and Field Trips
Field Trip to Apple Hill - October 2009
In the fall of 2009 we took a field trip to Apple Hill just outside Sacramento. We got some apples, walked the corn mazes, discovered a very cool forest at a tree farm and ate a lot of apple pie.
We also spent some time in the nearby town of Placerville where we discovered a monument in honor of the first AODA Druid in California, Frederick Sieg, who started the first California based AODA Grove there. The local shop owners were very excited to have a Druid church in town and asked to take our photo near the monument so they could put it up on their wall. Later we learned that Sieg is also buried in a nearby cemetery and we plan to return every year to honor him there.
